Jeju said that the advent of jellyfish season has arrived even earlier than in previous years, and the numbers are increasing as well. On June 12th, Jeju established countermeasures in order to prevent the fishery damage caused by the high frequency of jellyfish.
Jeju operates a jellyfish crisis center and has secured removal expenses to purchase necessary equipment. In addition, the center will conduct a weekly periodic monitoring and will provide analysis of the sea conditions to fishermen.
When large amounts of jellyfish are present, cooperative control measures will be conducted. In the case of damaged facilities, the crisis center will support repayment and interest relief funds for fishermen.
