Jeju Island beaches' water quality is 'suitable'
Jeju Health and Environment Institution announced that they conducted a chemical survey of beach water with the approach of the summer season and the results found were very good.
   
The Institution performed the two chemical surveys over 10 days intervals one time each at Hamdeok, Gimnyeong, Jungmun, and 13 other specific beaches plus 2 areas of unofficial beach on Udo Island. As a result, from five items tested such as chemical oxygen demand and suspended solids, the beaches got an average score of 5.5 points and have been identified as suitable for all water quality standards. However, in SinYang Seopjikoji beach, there is marine plants cleanup work needed.
   
In addition, Hyeopjae, Geumneng, Gimnyeong, Hamdeok, and Iho beaches will be opened until August 31st.
